Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion on 24 February 2022, hundreds of new restaurants, cafés and bars have opened in Kyiv. International and Ukrainian retailers continue to invest in new locations, hotels have opened, and both private and public construction projects have been launched.

Using publicly verifiable sources, this page shows that private and public investment in Kyiv has continued throughout the full-scale invasion: in restaurants and hospitality, retail and services, as well as new construction and infrastructure projects.

Important: This is a verified minimum/evidence list. There is no central public register that fully records every private opening and every construction start in Kyiv since 24 February 2022. The actual number of investments and openings is higher.

Methodology and significance

Only businesses or projects with a traceable opening or construction report from industry media, established media outlets, operator or shopping-centre sources, or official government and budget documents are included. Announcements without a verified opening or start of construction are not counted.

Key point: Kyiv is not an economically stagnant market. Investment risk is real, but the documented evidence shows that companies and public-sector actors continue to invest.
